1. Monthly Nature Walks in Purcellville - Join the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board at the Chapman DeMary Trail on Sunday,
July 25 at 1 p.m. for a meditative hike. The guide, Cathy Norman, will help participants connect with nature using all five of their senses and encourage quiet relaxation through deep breathing at different points on the trail. The walk will also include interpretive guidance about flora and fauna. Ms. Norman is a Virginia Master Naturalist, a registered yoga instructor, and has been trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
2. Camp Creatology: Paper Butterfly Mask with Michaels - Join us online for Camp Creativity! In this class, your mini makers will be making a personalized butterfly mask with a mask and construction paper. This is one of the 12 classes of Camp Creatology. Purchase the bundle of supplies to create all 12 projects or you can purchase the supplies for each project.
3. Outdoor Movie Night In South Riding - “I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty.”- WALT DISNEY. Bring your kids and feel like a kid again yourself watching a movie outside on the BIG screen. Admission is FREE! Movies will start at sunset. Don’t forget your blanket or chairs.
4. 2021 Regal $1.00 Movies - Spider Man - Into The Spider-Verse - Summer movies for kids at Regal. Bring the family to the nearest Regal theatre for our 2021 Summer Movie Express series! Summer Movie Express tickets are just $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays featuring summer movies the whole family will enjoy!
5. Loudoun County Fair @ Fairgrounds, Leesburg - The 2021 Loudoun County Fair is ON!!! Mark Your Calendars and Make Your Plans NOW to come to join us Wednesday July 28th - August 1st 2021. Animals, Petting Zoo, Entertainment, Carnival, Demolition Derby & MORE will make for an exciting 5 days for our community to come together and support the 4 H members and our single largest Fundraiser.
6. Summer Spa Day @ Douglass Community Center, Leesburg - (Ages 6-10) Looking for a relaxing summer day? Enjoy a mini spa day where we will pamper ourselves with face masks and paint our nails! Parent participation is not required.
7. Pedal Purcellville - Join the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on July 31 for Pedal Purcellville! Pedal Purcellville is a fun, family-friendly bicycle ride and contest for the best-decorated bikes.
8. Bat Night Returns @ Izaak Walton League of America- Loudoun County Chapter - We are proud to present our fifth annual Bat Night led by THE BAT LADY, Dr. Susanne Sterbing, world-renowned bat expert and a research professor from Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. The event, aimed at both adults and children, will be held at the new Waltonian Conservation Outdoor Classroom. Dr. Sterbing will present a fascinating audio-visual presentation followed by an extensive question and answer period. You don’t want to miss Dr. Sterbing’s description of the strange feeding rituals of vampire bats!
9. Open Late Concert Series @ National Sporting Library & Museum - Bring your chairs or blanket and enjoy a free concert by the Bryan Shepherd Country Band on the lawn of the National Sporting Library & Museum. The concert and museum admission are free and open to the public from 6 to 8 pm. Picnics are welcome but no glass containers or outside alcohol is permitted. Concessions will be available, and there is free parking on site.
