Description

We are proud to present our fifth annual Bat Night led by THE BAT LADY, Dr. Susanne Sterbing, world-renowned bat expert and a research professor from Johns Hopkins University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.

The event, aimed at both adults and children, will be held at the new Waltonian Conservation Outdoor Classroom. Dr. Sterbing will present a fascinating audio-visual presentation followed by an extensive question and answer period. You don’t want to miss Dr. Sterbing’s description of the strange feeding rituals of vampire bats!

The lecture will be followed by a live bat viewing down at the pond. Bat detectors will be available so participants can listen as well as watch the bats as they soar overhead. Sundown is at 8:23 PM that evening, so the denizens of the night should start appearing soon after that.

What to Bring:
It is essential that participants wear walking shoes and bring flash lights, bug repellant and a towel or cushion to sit on at the pond. For those who are superstitious, garlic and sharpened wooden stakes will be available!
