2022 Summer Reading Programs in Loudoun

October 3, 2022

The lazy days of summer are here! Well, hopefully not too lazy as far as reading goes. Summer reading is important - and fun - for kids. Here are some programs to stay motivated to read and excited about books this summer.

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading
Through August 31, 2022, your kids can read any 8 books and record them in the Barnes Noble Summer Reading Journal. Once they complete the journal, they can take it back to the store from July 1st through August 31st to select a free book from the list on the journal. Grades 1-6.

Books-A-Million Summer Reading Adventure with Reading Ambassador Dav Pilkey
Students can read any four books on the BAM approved adventure list. Write about the books you have read in your Summer Reading Adventure Notebook. Show your completed notebook to a store associate to receive your free bookmark and pencil pouch.

Loudoun County Public Library
Set a course for adventure with this year’s Summer Reading Program. Create your account online starting Thursday, June 16, and then track your progress as you spend the summer earning cool prizes by reading great books, completing challenges, attending programs and exploring your community. All ages are invited to join the fun — pre-readers, kids, teens and adults!

Scholastic
From May 9 through August 19, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base, a completely free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers. Home Base is moderated for safety 24/7.

Chuck E Cheese
Print out a Chuck E’s Reading Rewards calendar. Read every day for two weeks and win 10 free tokens! You can print out multiple calendars but can only redeem one per day per child.

Pizza Hut, Book It!
Camp BOOK IT! rewards your kids all summer long. Track and reward your kids' reading for June, July and August in the Book It! digital dashboard. When they meet their monthly reading goal, they'll receive a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.
