We are quickly becoming a more bicycle-friendly America and Loudoun County has so much to offer for those of us that have come to enjoy the great outdoors on our bikes. This month as we celebrate National Bike Month, we can also take note that Friday, May 19th, is Bike to Work Day. I'll also remind myself on Bike to Work Day that jumping on my Peloton is not what The League of American Bicyclists had in mind when they formed their grassroots association to promote biking as transportation, as recreation, as essential to our well-being and everyday lives. They say it best in their Mission and I quote:
WE BELIEVE:
BICYCLING BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER.
BICYCLING MAKES LIFE BETTER FOR EVERYONE.
WHEN MORE PEOPLE RIDE BIKES:
PEOPLE ARE HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER
OUR COMMUNITIES ARE SAFER, STRONGER and BETTER CONNECTED
OUR NATION IS SOCIALLY and ECONOMICALLY STRONGER
ENVIRONMENT IS MORE PROTECTED AND WE ARE SLOWING CLIMATE CHANGE
There are many beautiful and peaceful settings that surround us not only for bike riding but for a good hike with some amazing parks and trails. Exploring nature with the family is a great way to get out and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer us. Here is just a sampling of what awaits a scenic hike, biking, or picnic with the family in our amazing Loudoun community.
