August 1st - August 7th


1. Loudoun County Fair @ Fairgrounds, Leesburg - Come join us Wednesday, July 28th - August 1st, 2021. Animals, Petting Zoo, Entertainment, Carnival, Demolition Derby & MORE! It will make for an exciting 5 days for our community to come together and support the 4 H members and our single largest Fundraiser.


2. Middleburg National Night Out - Share in the free food, fun, and games that is the Middleburg National Night Out! National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. We 'may' be filming the police lip sync challenge so you could be in it!


3. 2021 Loudoun Mini Athletes' Tri in Ashburn - WE. ARE. BACK! Live and in-person... and calling all youth athletes to grab their gear and prepare to splash, flash and dash in the 6th running of the Loudoun Mini Athletes' Tri on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 8:30 AM. Swim laps in the pool at the Broadlands Community Center (NEW location for 2021), bike ride around the Broadlands neighborhood on the bike course, and run through the Broadlands tunnel and track for your run. Young athletes of all levels ranging ages 6-16 are welcome to participate! All triathlon participants will receive a participation medal at the finish line, a bag of goodies to include our commemorative race bragging shirt.


4. Let's Count Butterflies in Loudoun County - Announcing Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s annual Butterfly Count! Come and have fun while contributing to butterfly conservation. Each year the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) asks volunteers around the nation to count all the butterflies they see within specified count circles. Our circle stretches from Leesburg to the Blue Ridge and from Lovettsville to Lincoln, along roadsides and driveways, public pollinator plantings, and private gardens. All ages and experience levels are welcome — you’ll be teamed up with experienced leaders.


5.  Storytime LIVE! @ Kiddie Academy of Leesburg - You're invited to Kiddie Academy for Storytime LIVE!, where we will celebrate literacy and share a story together - with a special visit from the beloved Curious George. This event is FREE and open to everyone — bring a friend or two.


6. Tanabata: A Japanese Celebration @ Franklin Park Arts Center - Celebrate this traditional Japanese festival with an interactive planetarium show that combines astronomy and the story of Tanabata. Traditional crafts and games will be in the lobby for all ages to enjoy. Try on a kimono from our collection and snap some pictures in our photo booth area. Planetarium program will be presented each hour on the hour.  At dusk, we will release floating water lanterns in Franklin Park pond. A peaceful, magical, and cultural evening for all generations.


7. Water Gun Painting @ Purcellville Library - Create art with water guns. Pick your colors, aim and create.


8. National Night Out @ Middleburg Community Center - National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Free food, drinks, games prizes & more! Dunk Town Manager & Chief of Police! Free late swim 6-8pm | MCC swimming pool.


9. StoryWalk®: Reading Makes You Feel Good @ Brambleton Library, Ashburn - Enjoy a StoryWalk® the next time you visit Brambleton Library. The adventure begins on the library windows near the back parking lot. Our current feature is Reading Makes You Feel Good by Todd Parr. 


10. Outdoor Movie: The Secret Garden @ Franklin Park Arts Center, Purcellville - A young orphan stumbles upon a whimsical garden while living with her domineering uncle. She then experiences a series of fantastical adventures in her newfound playground. Movies will be projected on the outside back wall of the Arts Center. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets for outdoor seating in the grass.  2020 film released by STXEntertainment, rated PG. Running time: 99 minutes.
