Exploring the Omni Homestead Resort

The Great American Family Vacation

May 4, 2018

You know what’s awesome? The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia . You know what’s even more awesome? Spending the weekend with girlfriends at the Omni Homestead Resort. Without my children. All alone. I love them, I do, but it is nice to get away and recharge all by yourself every once in a while.

I did just that recently with a group of Macaroni Kid publishers. We travelled to the Homestead from all over the eastern region to relax, recharge, and fit in some professional development. I read a book by the pool, went horseback riding, enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire pit, had a wonderful dinner with adult conversation, and just breathed in the southern comfort and warm atmosphere that is the Homestead.

During my visit, I also realized that the Homestead is an amazing family destination. The Homestead simply does family right. There is no shortage of things to do for all ages. S’mores at the firepit, lawn games, golf, movie theater, game room, shopping, and more. A standout is the outdoor pool, fed by the natural springs, which has a lazy river and a huge water slide. There is also a zero gravity entry, water spouts and hand crank spray guns perfect for entertaining the little ones.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the Homestead is rolling out a summer schedule full of family fun creating the Great American Family Vacation. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can enjoy family bingo, puzzle competitions, fireworks, rubber ducky races, a petting zoo, family yoga, Southern Social Hour, and dive-in pool side movies. The Homestead will also have a photographer on hand to snap some family photos for you and arts and crafts (at an additional cost).

The Homestead is tucked away in the Virginia Allegheny Mountains just a few hours from Loudoun County. It was everything I imagined - spectacular views, pristine grounds, top notch service, true southern hospitality. But it turned out to be so much more:  a family-friendly destination where you can enjoy an active, fun-filled getaway and still feel relaxed and recharged at the end of the day.

The Omni Homestead provided horseback riding to me during my visit for the purposes of this review.
