Summer Reading Programs for Kids

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Triathlon

On you mark, get set, GO! This year Barnes and Noble is making things fun and exciting with the introduction of a Summer Reading Triathlon! This is open for children grades 1st through 6th.  Print out a Summer Reading Triathlon Journal, complete three of the four events, and return the journal to a local Barnes and Noble. If your child can do these steps before September 7th then they will earn a FREE book from the approved list.

TD Bank

Getting lost in their books and learning about saving money all in one summer.  Kids in grades K through 5 can print out a reading log and read 10 books. Return it to a local TD Bank branch and they will receive $10.00 into a new or already established Simple Savings account. Must be redeemed by August 31st.

Books-A-Million

Get ready to dive right into adventure with this reading challenge. Students can read any three books on the BAM approved adventure list. Mark them on log and return to a local Books-A-Million for a free prize.

Loudoun County Public Library

This challenge is open to Parents, Grandparents, and Kids! You can get in the game by picking up one of the challenge logs. When you have filled up your log return it to the local library, you'll be entered into a drawing for a free Kindle! They'll be four winners at every branch. Must return the completed logs back by August 28th. Check your local library daily for fun activities and to show off the status of your log.

Scholastic

If you ever wanted to become a Superhero now is the time! Start reading and log your minutes on Scholastics website. You can unlock new stories and even win cool prizes. This is open until September 9th.

Chuck E Cheese

Print out a Chuck E’s Reading Rewards calendar. Read every day for two weeks and win 10 free tokens! You can print out multiple calendars but can only redeem one per day per child.

Pizza Hut, Book It!

Download tons of summer fun. From book related activities to printables to even more. There is also a lot of different ideas to avoid getting into a reading slump over the summer.

B&O Railroad

Read 10 railroad related books and complete the reading journal. Completed journals must be returned to the museum by August 22nd, for children to receive a free book and a chance to win an engineer’s outfit.

Sylvan

Book Adventure is a free online reading program. No need to print out any papers! The site is easy for children to find a book, take quizzes, and win prizes. Register to start your adventure if you are between the grades of K through 8.

PBS DIY Reading Camp

Everything you would need to host 10 fun, fabulous weeks of reading camp. Each week is different!  There are Bugs, Heroes, and Dragons just to name a few. Created in cooperation with PBS KIDS®
